TRANZnet was formed in 1991, at a seminar held in Shepparton, Victoria. It was decided that the establishment of a "Road Transport Industry Trainer Network" would help standardise Training, lead to better quality control of both Trainers and Training and give Trainers from "remote" areas an information source to draw on. It was also agreed, that the main objective of the Network should be to provide support to Trainers within the Industry and become a vital link between Trainers, the Industry, the Regulators, the Industry Training Boards and the like. Finally, at this inaugural meeting it was determined that no individual Company, Government body or training group would control TRANZNET, it should be totally independent. As members are spread over such vast distances, it was established that it would only be practical to meet annually and this should be done at an annual conference.
TRANZNET refers to the Network of Australian and New Zealand transport and related industries' training professionals.
